Mid & East Antrim Council has re-opened its Grants Support Scheme for a final call with a £60k kitty available.

As of yesterday, Monday, the scheme will be open to applications for projects in the community borough-wide including ‘International Events’ in 2015-16.

Since the Grants Support Scheme launched in April 2015, it has received over 340 applications from all over the borough and from each sector within the community. These included 130 were Sports Grants, three heritage projects, 179 Community Grants, and 34 Arts & Events Grants

At their November monthly meeting, last Monday night, councillors were informed of an ‘underspend’, with Council having allocated to-date £340k of the £400k budget for 2015/16 through the two previous calls of the scheme, leaving £60k.

Councillors went on to agree, on the proposal of Deputy Mayor Cr Timothy Gaston, seconded by Cr Beth Clyde, an officer recommendation that, in a bid to meet Council’s strategic objectives of supporting communities, the ‘underspend’ would be made available through re-opening of the scheme from November 9-27.
