Ford Makes Call for Increased Ballymena to Belfast Rail Service

DAVID Ford MLA met with Translink and called for an increased service between Ballymena and Belfast, which would call at Antrim and Mossley West.

Ford said: “Once again I have raised the issue that the service between Belfast, Mossley West, Antrim and Ballymena should be increased. When surveying residents in Antrim, this is an issue that is regularly raised. The feedback I receive suggests that increasing the service will encourage more people to use the train and will be a benefit to all.”

Cllr Jayne Dunlop said, “I would welcome an increased service between Belfast, Antrim and Ballymena. By improving better connections between the three destinations we can encourage more people to use the train to Ballymena”.

David Ford also made the call for Transllink to ensure there are increased trains and carriages to cope with travellers bound for the Irish Open.

Ford said, “Everyone is excited about the Irish Open in Portrush and reports indicate that many of the spectators will be commuting daily. I have spoken with Translink to ensure that an increased service and increase to six carriage trains are provided.”
