Free Eye health check for your pet at Fenagh Veterinary Clinic

FENAGHY Veterinary Clinic are pleased to announce that they will be offering free eye health checks for your pets throughout March.

In pets, conditions affecting the eyes are quite common and potentially serious. They can range from simple eye irritations to serious and life threatening diseases and if left untreated can eventually lead to blindness.

The most common sign of eye disease is the production of tears or discharge from the affected eye or eyes but other signs can include the dog or cat squinting or blinking excessively. Also, if the eye appears either larger or smaller than normal, has a cloudy or blue appearance then serious problems are likely.

Glaucoma is one of the more serious of eye conditions that can affect dogs and, less commonly, cats. It is caused by an increase in fluid pressure inside the eyeball. Because of the pain involved, a pet with glaucoma usually shows a change in behaviour. It will often paw at or rub its eye and will show obvious discomfort. The earlier the animal is treated medically for this condition, the higher the chance that it will keep its vision.

That is why pet owners should take advantage of Fenaghy Veterinary Clinic’s free eye health checks if they have any concerns.

Their specialist in eye conditions, Dr. Isabel Buehler, will be at hand for appointments. Dr. Buehler has completed numerous courses in veterinary ophthalmology in Germany, Switzerland and the UK and has extensive experience in treating eye conditions in pet. She is a member of the British Association of Veterinary Ophthalmologists.

Anyone wishing to make an appointment should contact the clinic on 028 2563 1999.

Fenaghy Veterinary Clinic are also offering free micro-chipping with any vaccination or operation in March and senior citizens are encouraged to ask about special rates the clinic can offer.
