Frew urges Broughshane folk to ‘take up the lollypop’

Braid Councillor and local MLA Paul Frew is appealing to people in Broughshane to consider applying for a school crossing patrol post.

He said the NEELB advertised last October for the position but that it remains unfilled.

“A second advertisement went out and when the job was offered once again, there was no reply.

“This has been quite an effort over the years trying to convince the NEELB that a second Patrol Crossing should be established on the Raceview Road adjacent to the school path.

“Many people in the village have voiced their concerns to me regarding children crossing the road at this very busy part.

“The NEELB has assured me that they will re-advertise at the earliest opportunity this month,” said Mr. Frew.

“The school have appointed a member of staff as a temporary solution and this is to be welcomed but I would appeal to the people of Broughshane ‘if you can do this job consider applying’. You are not only getting income but you would be doing a great service to the school,” he said.
