Great displays planned for motorsport festival

Some of the most exotic classic cars and motorcycles ever seen in Ireland will be taking part in the superb festival of motorsport in Broughshane at the start of August.

Promoted and orgainsed by the Mid Antrim 150 Road Racing Section, exhibition spaces at the event, on Friday, August 1 and Saturday, August 2 are filling up rapidly.

The Classic Bikes will be housed in 2nd Broughshane Church Hall while the Cars will be available for viewing in the adjacent car park of 2nd Broughshane Church.

There are still some Trade and Autojumble stands in the Broughshane Community Centre available at £10 per table. Set up in the centre will be from 5pm and the centre will open for business at 7pm.

On Friday evening (August 1) a car boot sale will take place in the Community Centre Car Park, cost £5 per car or £10 per van, the sale will commence at 5pm to 8pm.

On Saturday the event will start at 10am when the Mayor of Ballymena, Councillor Audrey Wales, will officially open the festival which will run to 5pm.

One of the star attractions on Saturday will be the MCUI Motorcycle Trials Team who will put on some wonderful demonstrations.

Also on Saturday there will be a Classic Bike ride out and a car run.

The bikes will complete two laps of the Mid Antrim 150 Race circuit with the cars taking in the old Ballygarvey Circuit.

A spokesman for the Mid-Antrim 150 Road Racing Section said: “All that is left is for the motorsport fraternity and the general public to attend what will be the largest gathering of motorsport vehicles ever assembled in Broughshane.”

Cost of entry to the Festival is £5, a programme will be available for £2 which doubles as entry to the prize draw with 1st prize being a set of car tyres donated by Michelin PLC, Ballymena. The official charity for the Festival is The Northern Ireland Childrens Hospice.
