Greener Housing a priority for Dunlop

NORTH Antrim Alliance Party Westminster candidate Jayne Dunlop plans to make greener housing a priority.

Ms Dunlop says the Alliance Party is committed to improving the environment and will aim to construct greener social housing.

She said: “We want to see more affordable housing that will have technology such as smart meters to measure household energy consumption and we will work towards the construction of carbon zero homes.

“Increased insulation and more efficient use of electricty and the increased use of green energy would contribute to reduced costs for homeowners and would reduce environmental pollution,” she said.

“By promoting more eco friendly houses and technologies we will help to generate jobs in the environmental sector, create new industry and give a boost to the construction sector”.

Ms Dunlop continued: “The Northern Ireland workforce has the capacity to embrace new technologies and to contribute to environmental improvements. The economic downturn may well inspire many people to take on new challenges and Alliance is committed to supporting creative environmental developments."
