‘Hands Around The World’ mural ready to launch

WEDNESDAY evening will see the unveiling of stunning mural created by dozens of students from schools across the borough which reflects their view of the world and the Olympic values of friendship and respect.

The ‘Hands Around The World’ mural will be unveiled at a celebration event in The Braid organised by The Creative Peace Mural Society NI, supported by Ballymena Borough Council and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.

During the evening, the audience will be treated to a performance by members of the Ulster Orchestra and Ballymena Learning Together students.

Hands Around The World was grnted the prestigious London 2012 Truce Inspire Mark, th badge of the London 2012 Inspire Programme which recognises exceptional and innovative projects inspired by the 2012 Games.

The Creative Peace Mural for Northern Ireland worked closely with the local community, involving students from schools across Ballymena in association with Ballymena Learning Together.

Their completed mural will be displayed at Stormont during May before joining the other 10 international Creative Peace Murals at the Houses of Parliament in London for the Arts in Parliament Exhibition in June.
