The party was organised by her cousin, Maureen Luke and attended by Councillor Beth Adger along with a large party of friends and relatives - some from as far away as Australia.

Born in Ballymena on July 3, 1909, Maud was brought up in the Dan’s Road area with her brother, the late Joe Nicholl. N

ow a very youthful centenarian, she likes to keep active.

Maud is a keen reader and enjoys writing poetry, numerous pieces of which have been published over the years, and she was delighted last week to receive her second card from HRH The Queen.

One of Maud’s friends, Cllr Beth Adger, who joined in the celebrations, said: “Maud’s a remarkable lady and full of fun. She enjoyed blowing out the candles on her cake and told us she’s looking forward to seeing us all again at her party next year!” INBT28-207AC
