Hit and run- 71 year old motorist is arrested
Police arrested a 71-year-old man on Friday night, after a suspected ‘hit and run’ incident.
He was stopped in the Bridge Street area of the town.
Chief Inspector Stephen McCauley said a 26-year-old man was injured in Larne Road after he was struck by a car which then left the scene.
The driver of the car was subsequently arrested at Bridge Street on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol, failing to stop and careless driving.

Hide AdHe was later released on police bail pending further enquiries.
The injured man was taken to hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
Chief Inspector Stephen McCauley said: “If you saw the road traffic collision, which happened at just before 7pm on Friday 14 November, please contact police on the non-emergency number 101.”
