Holmes Cash and Carry to close with loss of up to 12 jobs

UP to 12 jobs are set to go after it was confirmed that Holmes Cash and Carry will close at the end of February.

In a statement released earlier today, parent company Musgrave Wholesale Partners said that it is transfering activity from its Ballymena site to Belfast.

The statement read: “Seven roles will be transferred to the MarketPlace Duncrue site and Ballymena employees will have the option to transfer into these roles.

“Regrettably, this will result in a net loss of 12 full-time jobs. A 30-day period of consultation will commence immediately with our employees and their trade union representatives.

“Musgrave Wholesale Partners is doing everything it can to minimise the impact of this closure, including the transfer of the 7 roles mentioned above to its MarketPlace Duncrue depot. It will also be putting in place an extensive outplacement support programme for all impacted employees, as they transition to this location or seek alternative employment.

“We are trading in one of the toughest environments in living memory and have examined every part of our business to ensure we have the correct business structures to grow our brands.”
