Improvement funds secured for town centre

‘Core streets’ in Ballymena Town Centre could be in line for a revamp early next
year.

Following the launch of the Ballymena Town Centre Public Realm Strategy, Ballymena Borough Council has now secured funding from the Department for Social Development for such an improvement
scheme.

A spokesperson for Ballymena Council said: “Our consultants, having listened to the views of a wide range of town centre users over the last number of months, have applied international best practice design solutions to address the specific opportunities and challenges in Ballymena.

“The draft proposals are being exhibited for public consultation so that you can give your view on the improvements being considered.”

The Exhibition will be available to view at The Braid Town Hall from tomorrow, Tuesday, May 28 to Monday, June 10. Consultants will be available to answer questions tomorrow from 12noon-
7pm.

The proposals can also be viewed at http://www.paulhogarth.com/newsblog/ and provide feedback to [email protected].

It is anticipated by Council that construction could start on the scheme early next year, subject to any comments or
changes.
