A native of Holland, he was introduced in 1959 by the famous Swiss naturopath, Alfred Vogel, to what is now referred to as ‘complementary medicine’.

Jan was so impressed by this man and his breadth of knowledge of the natural lifestyle that he left pharmacy to study first homoeopathy, then later on naturopathy and acupuncture.

And, in 1960, Jan de Vries and Alfred Vogel started the very first naturopathic clinic in Holland.

A decade later, Jan set up his first UK clinic in Troon on the west coast of Scotland where he still practices today at Auchenkyle and he now has a total of four complementary healthcare clinics, three affiliated clinics plus a number of health and diet shops across Britain and Ireland which he visits regularly to consult with patients.
