But he said that the passing of Cracker’s highly esteemed Honorary President, Jack Adams had added a poignant new perspective to fund-raising efforts.

“We want to be able to celebrate his life and devotion to Radio Cracker, by marking the year of his passing with a record-breaking total,” said Gordon.

The closing date for the receipt of applications for funding from registered Charities is 10 September. Applications from Charities for local projects will be given the same consideration as those for projects in the Third World and other poor countries.

The season will start with the always-popular Radio Cracker Country Concert in the Michelin Athletic Club on Thursday, 8 September 2016, starting at 8 pm. Artists appearing are Moira Crawley, Geri Kane, Stephen Beckett, Billy McFarland and Jordan Mogey. Backing will be by Gerard Dornan and Jonathan Milligan, and the show will be compared by Jackie Fullerton. Tickets are £7.50 from Gordon on 07808736720 or Sammy on 07808881520; or you can pay at the door. On Saturday, 17 September in the Fairhill Shopping Centre, RCB will hold its Annual Cake Sale. Then, on 14 October, there will be a Table Quiz at Ballymena Rugby Club, Eaton Park. This will be followed, by popular demand, with a Gospel Concert in Wellington Presbyterian Church on Saturday, 19 November by The Belfast Community Gospel Choir.
