Speaking to the Times, Mr Robin Swann, a North Antrim Ulster Unionist Assembly candidate, said: "I wholeheartedly congratulate the Kells and Connor Senior Citizens' Committee for the invaluable work it does in the village and the surrounding district.

Mr Swann, who is also North Antrim UUP constituency association chairman, added: "This grant will help the committee continue to run its fortnightly meetings and provide transport for those older people who otherwise would not be able to avail of the fellowship and support offered at these meetings.

"The work of the committee of the senior citizens and its contribution to enriching the lives of its members is a testament to the voluntary commitment of many in our community and should be rightly acknowledged," said Mr Swann.
