Lung Health awareness for Portglenone pupils

LOCAL support group of the British Lung Foundation, Breathe Easy Causeway, will be raising awareness of lung health by visiting St Mary’s Primary School, Portglenone, to mark No Smoking Day on Wednesday, March 13.

Members of the group will join British Lung Foundation Development Officer for Northern Ireland, Nessie Blair, in the visit to speak with pupils aged eight to 11 about the importance of protecting their lung health and the dangers of starting a smoking habit.

Nessie Blair, said: “Smoking is one of the biggest threats to anyone’s health so it’s really important that we do all we can to prevent a new generation from starting. We hope that by talking to the pupils, they will make informed and sensible decisions about their health as they grow older.

“It’s crucial to get the message across to young people before it’s too late. Prevention is so much better than a cure. I’m really looking forward to engaging with the youngsters.”
