Man had to be restrained in hospital

A pre-sentence report has been requested in the case of a man who used disorderly behaviour at Antrim Area Hospital.

Antrim Magistrates Court heard that an ambulance was called to an address in Clough on January 31 following a report of a male feeling suicidal.

John Mahood (45), whose address was given as Abbey Ring, Holywood, was conveyed to hospital and acted aggressively while being transported by ambulance.

Prosecutor Andrew Houston outlined that Mahood appeared to calm down on arrival at hospital but started to wander round the ambulance bay had to be restrained. He calmed down but then wandered into the resuscitation area and had to be restrained again.

On hearing the outline of the case, District Judge Alan White said he felt the matter would benefit from a pre-sentence report from Probation and adjourned the case until March 8.
