Man in court on attempted murder charge

A BALLYMENA man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder.

John Cully (41), of Clarence Street, is accused of attempting to murder a 50-year-old man.

He is further charged with possessing an offensive weapon - a screwdriver - in a public place.

The charges relate to a stabbing incident in the Clarence Street area of Ballymena on Saturday, July 14. Cully was remanded in custody to appear via videolink at Ballymena Magistrates Court on August 9 after he appeared in court in Coleraine yesterday (Monday).
