Man stabbed multiple times near Ballymena park

A 21-year-old man has been stabbed a number of times by two men close to a Ballymena park.

Detectives are appealing for information about the incident which happened in the Queen Street area in the early hours of today (March 1).

Inspector Michael Simpson said: “At approximately 4am, police received a report that a 21-year-old man had been stabbed a number of times by two men close to a park in the area.

"The victim managed to walk to a nearby shop where he raised the alarm. He was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening at this stage.

“Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact detectives at Ballymena PSNI Station on the non-emergency number 101 quoting reference number 96 01/03/17.

"Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
