Christopher McGolpin (25), of Craighill, Antrim, is accused of making false claims to have discarded a mobile phone in relation to the investigation into the murder of the businessman last January.

The offence is alleged to have been committed between January 19 to May 5 of last year.

McGolpin made no reply in response to the charge during a preliminary enquiry at Antrim Magistrates Court today.

A Prosecution lawyer submitted on behalf of the Crown that McGolpin has a case to answer.

The case was adjourned for McGolpin to be arraigned at Antrim Crown Court on June 30.
