Marathon effort by Dunbia team

A LOCAL company is the latest organisation to sign up to run for NI Children’s Hospice at this year’s Belfast Marathon.

Dunbia, which is based in Cullybackey, is entering five walkers, five full marathon runners and three relay teams.

Dunbia selected Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice as it charity of the year and are actively raising money for the local charity through various fundraising events.

Entering to run in the Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon is one of their latest fundraising efforts, and the organisation hope to raise as much money as possible.

Karen Birnie, Marketing & Communications Manager for Dunbia, said: “Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice is Dunbia’s charity of the year partner and the work of the charity is close to all our hearts.

“As it is a local charity, we know that our fundraising efforts will be used to provide hospice care to children and families throughout Northern Ireland.

“We have all began our training for race day and it will be a great team effort. We have just received our fundraising packs and we are full of ideas to secure sponsorship.

“We hope that our local community here in Ballymena get behind us and support the Children’s Hospice as the official charity for the Belfast City Marathon. This year, we are quite simply, doing it for the kids.”

Joanna Pawson, Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice Event Manager, said: “We are delighted to have Dunbia running for Children’s Hospice.

“The Ballymena and Antrim communities are always so supportive of our charity, and this is again evident through Dunbia’s dedication.

Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice is the official charity of the Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon 2012 which will take place on Monday, May 7.

With only weeks to go until the official May Day event, Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice are calling all relay teams, walkers and fun runners to ‘Do It for the kids’ and register before the April 6 deadline.
