Masked men in ‘home invasion’

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following a ‘home invasion’ style incident near Clough in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday 11 August).

At around 1.25am it was reported that a number of masked men forced their way into a house in the Ballybogey Road area and assaulted the male and female occupants.

Both victims were taken to hospital for treatment.

A 50 year old man was arrested a short time later on suspicion of aggravated burglary and assault.

He is currently in custody assisting police with their enquiries.

Detective Chief Inspector Richard Carmichael is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that could assist the police investigation to contact Detectives at Ballymena Police Station on the non-emergency number 101. Information can also be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
