Men broke in and claimed they were from UVF

Detectives are investigating the incident in which the property was ransacked, this occurred on the night of Monday, December 1.

Detective Chief Inspector Catherine Magee said: “It was reported to police that at around 10pm on Monday evening, three masked men entered a house and spoke with the householder. The men claimed to be from a paramilitary organisation, namely the UVF. They went through a bedroom in the house but left without taking anything.

“The incident is similar in nature to an aggravated burglary in Garvagh in October and another burglary in Ahoghill five days later. Links between the burglaries are being explored by detectives at present.

“I would ask that anyone with any information contact detectives in Ballymena on the non-emergency number 101. Information can also be passed to us anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
