The Technical Training Centre was established at the College’s Farm Lodge campus in 2004.

It had formerly been accommodated at the Michelin factory location near Broughshane which is due to close in 2018.

During the handover, John Milsted, Factory Manager, said: “Handing over these facilities to the Northern Regional College will contribute to ensuring continued provision of high quality training in engineering disciplines and carry on Michelin’s legacy for future generations.

“We wish the college and its students every continued success.”

The first Michelin training centre at Raceview Road, opened on January 22, 1970, with 100 apprentices in training at that time.

Over the years, the purpose-built facility, both on site and at the College has trained over a thousand apprentice engineers, both mechanical and electrical.
