DUP MLA Paul Frew has called on Transport NI (formerly Roads Service) for speed bumps at Glenaan Park in Kells.

Mr Frew said he had been contacted by local residents concerned about road safety, particularly in relation to Glenaan Park which motorists have to use to access the Centre.

He said: “It has been noted that a lot of cars have been driving at excessive speeds. Local children would tend to play in this area due to the close proximity of the play park. To have cars driving in this way is making the area very unsafe, speed bumps would be a favourable step towards the direction of danger-free public road areas. It is very important that something be done here before someone gets hurt. I have written to Transport NI asking them to seriously consider taking this step.”
