A new art gallery has opened just outside Broughshane.

The Blacksheep Gallery at 125 Knockan Road showcases the original artwork of local artist, Judith Logan.

Judith’s style has been described as a fusion of figurative, naive and folk art.

To date, she has exhibited with the RUA and the RWS, in London and Birmingham, and is an Associate member of the USWA where she won the New Member award this year.

Judith has also recently become a Signature member of The United Kingdom Coloured Pencil Society.

Her work is in private collections worldwide, including Chile, Canada and the USA.

One half of an extremely successful double act, Judith’s husband Hernán offers wedding photography, portraiture, family shots, commercial photography and more.

A fellow traveller, his work has taken him as far afield as Nepal and India, and recently he has been chosen by the international lens company Carl Zeiss, to showcase their lenses online.

With all three of their children now at school, the creative couple open their studio to the public six days a week, in addition to continuing to exhibit their work throughout Northern Ireland and Dublin.

They have spent the last few years renovating an old barn in their own backyard, where Judith paints and Hernán, originally from Chile, has his photographic studio.

Explaining the inspiration behind the catchy name, Judith explained: “Having grown up in the country, I was always surrounded by nature and animals, and even remember rescuing quite a few sheep, rushing into fields to push over several that I saw out on my walks that had fallen over on their backs.

“And well, perhaps I felt a little like a black sheep myself, coming back to live in Northern Ireland after a decade away.

“And so, my new gallery venture was christened - The Blacksheep.”

The Blacksheep Gallery is open Wednesday - Friday 11am to 5pm and Saturday 11am to 3pm, alternatively you can view by appointment.

Judith will also be holding a stall this year at the Ballymena Academy Christmas Fair on Saturday, December 10.

The gallery is offering 10 per cent of all stock (excluding art cards) from now until Christmas.
