New pitch plan is welcomed

Alderman Martin Clarke has welcomed Council’s approval of a further two new pitches at Wakehurst at a cost of £150k.

These will be the second phase of a development which culminated in two new playing pitches being opened to the public in September last year, according to Cllr Clarke.

He said: “This is good news for football and other sports and when we get our new state-of-the-art Community Centre and changing facilities, which has my full support, it will enhance the facilities in the whole area and as part of the plan there will be ample car parking for all users.

“The Ballymena South community is now looking forward to its new sporting and community centre,” he said.
