New reservoir on way to Tully Hill

NI Water is to spend £1million in the construction of a new Service Reservoir at Tully Hill which will improve the security of water supply to the Portglenone and Ahoghill area.

Work is now underway and the project will be completed by November 2012.

The contract has been awarded to Coalisland-based Geda Construction with design and project management support from Belfast-based companies Mott MacDonald and Capita Symonds.

NI Water Project Manager, Mark Richardson said: “The start of this project is good news for the local area as it will eventually improve the overall quality and security of water supply for our customers in the area.

“We would also like to make the public aware that there will be increased traffic on the Old Portglenone Road during this scheme, but NI Water and our contractor Geda Construction will do everything we can to keep any disruption to a minimum.

“NI Water is currently investing approximately £3 million per week improving water and wastewater services throughout Northern Ireland and Tully Service Reservoir is one of the many projects being undertaken to deliver a 21st century infrastructure to Northern Ireland.”
