New series of meetings for Dyslexia Group

A new season of meetings for the Slemish Parent’s Dyslexia Group is to begin on September 26.

The very successful dyslexia support group has been running in Slemish College, initiated by the Parent’s Council and in conjunction with the Learning Support Department to address the concerns and rising numbers of students with Dyslexia.

This group meets four times per year to assist and support all parents/teachers with dyslexia and other related difficulties.

These meetings open to all primary, secondary and grammar schools.

The dates of the meetings are:

Thursday, September 26, speaker will be Sinead McGrath from NEELB who is providing advice on student finance, and what’s available to assist with dyslexia.

Thursday, November 14- Speaker: Rachel Hogan BL- Children’s Law Centre sendist representative.

Thursday, January 16, 2014- Speaker: Tim Manson- School Examinations Officer, Secondary School Level.

Thursday, March 20, 2014- Speaker: Vivien Treacy- Senac (special education needs advice centre)

All meetings are held in the Sixth Form Centre- Slemish College, Larne Road, Ballymena BT42 3HA from 7.30pm- 9.00pm.
