Noise Action Week event in Ballymena

NOISE Action Week is an annual initiative that aims to raise awareness of the problems caused by neighbourhood noise and the solutions available to both those affected and various statutory agencies available to tackle it.

This year an event will be taking place in Ballymena on Wednesday, 23rd May at Halfords car park between 9.30am and 4.00pm.

Targeting dog barking - Last year almost 50% of noise complaints received by the council’s Environmental Services Department related to barking dogs.

Therefore the department is taking the opportunity through our website and local press to provide those affected by dog barking with advice, but also offering practical tips to dog owners.

Officers will be available on the day to discuss this information and advise on other types of noise complaints such as those resulting from domestic, transport and commercial activities.

Microchipping - New legislation introduced in April of this year requires that every dog owner must have their pet microchipped.

The council will no longer issue a licence for your dog unless it has been implanted with a microchip.

In conjunction with this year’s Noise Action event, a free Microchipping service will be available on the day and any member of the public who has not yet had the opportunity to have their dog microchipped is encouraged to come along.
