Northern Trust in the driving seat

A PRESENTATION event at Holywell Hospital in Antrim has recognised 26 drivers who have completed their ‘Drivers Certificate of Professional Competence’, a certificate accredited by the Driving Standards Agency.

Drivers from across the Northern Health and Social Care Trust area received their certificates from Northern Trust Chairman, Jim Stewart CBE.

Jim said: “I would like to congratulate everyone who received certificates. This is a huge achievement for everyone involved. Our drivers have an important role transporting our patients and clients safely across the Northern Trust area.”

Maire Bermingham, Assistant Director of Corporate Support Services, Northern Trust added: “Well done to all the participants for their hard work and commitment on achieving the level of competency required for the certificate.

“The staff who completed the programme attended training sessions which covered various topics including safe and efficent driving skills, road safety, vehicle awareness, driver skills, risk management and wheelchair clamping/restraints.”

Frances Freestone, Transort Services Manager, commented: “It is gratifying to see the interest that our drivers displayed in taking part in this training to update and improve their skills, which will help to improve the quality of service provided to our patients and clients.”
