Orange Order roadshow rolls into Carnlea

The Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland is commencing the exciting new venture in Co Antrim to highlight the various aspects of the Orange Institution and its work.

The first roadshow will take place at Carnlea Orange Hall on Thursday 20 February, before visiting a number of other venues across the Province, as well as travelling to Scotland.

Attendees at the Ballymena event will be informed in detail of the exciting plans to develop new Orange interpretative centres at Schomberg House, Belfast, and at Sloan’s House, Loughgall. Improvement works are expected to commence at both sites within weeks.

Stalls and information will also be available regarding the Orange Standard newspaper, Orange charities, the Orange land fund, the STRIPE Project, Orange Community Network and the Junior Orange Association of Ireland.

Orange Order Director of Services, Dr David Hume, said: “The roadshows are intended to inform as widely as possible about the work carried out by the Orange Institution in a variety of fields.

“We have development workers covering much of Northern Ireland and the border counties of the Republic, for example, publish a monthly newspaper, operate bursaries for students and also have an ambitious outreach programme.”

He added: “These roadshows are intended to let people know much more about our work, to encourage anyone who is interested in joining the organisation and to generally inform.”

The Carnlea roadshow will take place from 7pm to 9.30pm.
