Parkhall pupils' Peace Pledge

Lily Appleyard and Sam Cunningham, Head Girl and Head Boy at Parkhall Integrated College have written a pledge for peace in Northern Ireland as part of a peace building initiative entitled '˜Pathway to Peace.

This project started in schools in Derry in 2012 and a total of 231 schools have become involved by writing 25 words articulating what young people consider to be doing for our future.

The Parkhall pupils’ message reads: “We pledge to respect others as we would respect ourselves.

“We pledge to build a bridge of peace connecting all religions. We pledge to heal each other with our loving hearts.”

This is a powerful and positive message which reflects the aims of integrated schools in Northern Ireland and the ethos of Parkhall Integrated College.
