Party in the park was a summer sensation

Facilitated by the EU PEACE III Programme funded Building Relationships in Communities (bric) programme in conjunction with the Harryville Partnership Initiative, Ballymena Council and the Forward Project, the popular event on July 11 featured four marquees all showcasing the international culture of the area and the wide range of arts, crafts and cooking on offer there.

Representatives from the Indian, Chinese, Latin American and Eastern European communities were on hand to demonstrate their traditions and cultures with a selection of traditional arts and delicious dishes from their native countries.

Held as part of the family fun day in King George V Park, the event was well attended by the local community and also featured an assortment of attractions for all the family to enjoy including face painting, bouncy castle, zorbing and a bungee run.

Denver McMeekin, Chairman of Harryville Partnership Initiative, praised everyone who helped make the event a success.

“The festival was a resounding success and is testament to the hard work of all those involved including the Partnership Initiative, bric Programme, Ballymena Council and local residents.

“Events like this are an exciting and fun addition to the July celebrations but they would not be possible without the continued support of the bric Programme.

“Harryville Partnership Initiative is delighted to be involved with the bric Programme and we look forward to building this relationship further.”
