Pattons facing ‘cash pressures’

In a statement released yesterday to The Ballymena Times, a spokesman for Pattons, which is in its centenary year, revealed that it was “facing cash pressures’.

At the time of going to press, the spokesman said the business was ‘not in administration but was facing cash pressures as a result of the recent downturn in the construction sector’.

He added: “We have been working with our bank over recent months to seek to navigate our way through what has been and continues to be a very difficult period. This contact is ongoing.”

Established 100 years ago this year. with over 300 members of staff and an annual turnover of around £140m, the renowned construction firm is headquartered in Ballymena and has offices throughout the UK and Ireland.

Patton Group operates in a variety of sectors - Office, Public & Community, Living, Industrial & Technology, Hotel & Leisure, Health, Heritage, Education and Retail.

Just last month the Patton retail team completed a major store refurbishment for John Lewis, Milton Keynes.

Also in October, Patton delivered a significant heritage contract in Dublin as Principal Contractor on the Museum fit-out at Malahide Castle and Gardens.

Other recent projects closer to home include the design and build of the new Belfast Metropolitan College in the Titanic Quarter.
