‘Deeply miss you angel’: Thank you goes out to whole community ahead of Brooke Reid funeral

The funeral for tragic 12-year-old Brooke Reid is to take place in a few hours’ time – and an emotional message from her grandfather has been circulated beforehand.

The service is being led by Ballykeel Presbyterian minister Marty McNeely at the grandfather’s home in Ballykeel One estate.

It will not be streamed online.

Brooke had died after a fire at her Staffa Drive home in the estate early on Wednesday evening.

This morning, her grandfather Billy McMaster issued this message over social media.

“Please Lord, grant me the power to get through today.

“Bless each and everyone of my family, and princess Brooke’s entire family circle.

“I’m totally broken hearted but I just want to say a massive thank you to the community and people near and far for your sincere kindness.

“Especially Rev Marty McNeely of Ballykeel; he has been such a fantastic help throughout this hard and difficult time for us all.

“Love you so much and I will deeply miss you my angel Brooke (granddaughter).

“I know you are with me, I hope I do you proud by the send off I give you have fun up there with all your family loved ones.

“Don’t forget to tell them about your pjs/bathroom curtains. Love you pet.”
