Police forced to give up car chase due to safety concerns

Police were forced to give up chasing a car, which was stolen from the Antrim area, due to safety concerns

Detective Inspector Chris Millar said: “A white Hyundai Coupe was stolen from a property in Graingers Mill in Antrim after thieves entered the home and removed the keys shortly after midnight.

“The owners of the car were unaware their car had even been taken when it was spotted by witnesses at a burglary in Greenmill in Antrim and again at another later break-in in in Castleton in Templepatrick.

Police officers responding to the burglary report in Templepatrick spotted the vehicle in the village and pursued it into north Belfast. Officers were forced to abandon the pursuit a short time later in the Divis area due to safety concerns.

“We are keen to hear from witnesses or anyone with information about any of these crimes. Detectives can be contacted by calling 101.”
