Police raid ‘cannabis factory’

Ballymena police dismantled a suspected cannabis factory during a search of a property in the Ballee area of Ballymena yesterday afternoon (Tuesday December 9).

Officers also arrested three men at the scene on suspicion of possession of a class B drug, possession of a class B drug with intent to supply and cannabis cultivation.

The men are being interviewed by police at present.

Around £12,500 worth of cannabis plants were recovered during the search along with cannabis leaves that police believe were being dried as part of the cultivation process.

Chief Inspector Catherine Magee commented: “Once again, local officers have taken a quantity of drugs out of circulation and reduced the harm they cause to communities.

“I would continue to encourage anyone with any information about the sale and supply of illegal drugs in the community to contact police on 101 or ring the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
