Cllr McNeilly said: “This section of the road has been notorious for accidents and has been the site of a number of very serious accidents, so I welcome the work which is proposed to be done.”

Mr Swann told The Times proposals coming from Roads Service will enhance the safety of the junction significantly” such as the proposed upgrading of signage which will include advance warning signs.

He added: “The addition of high friction surfacing and ‘jiggle bars’ and the replacement of the existing carriageway surface on the approaches of both roads to the junction, should all help to alert drivers of the upcoming junction.”
