£21.8m announced for new Castle Tower school

STAFF, governors, parents and pupils of Castle Tower are celebrating the long-awaited announcement of funding for a much needed new school which would bring together all of its three campuses on one site.

Castle Tower was established in September, 2007, following the amalgamation of the three special schools in Ballymena - Dunfane, Beechgrove, and Loughan.

As he addressed the Assembly on the future of his capital programme, today (Monday) Education Minister John O’Dowd confirmed that Castle Tower had been identified as one of “the highest priority projects” following a rigorous selection process and pointed out that he was “particularly aware of the need to ensure we support the most vulnerable in our education system”.
