Richard Moore: Funeral for ‘committed Christian’

Around 1200 mourners gathered at Ballymena Baptist Church yesterday (Sunday) for the funeral of committed Christian Richard Moore.

Richard choked on food on December 11 while dining with work colleagues at the Ramore winebar in Portrush.

He was taken to the intensive care unit at Causeway Hospital but sadly passed away from his injuries on December 23. Richard had been a member of staff in the Causeway Hospital’s IT department

The service of thanksgiving for Richard’s life at Ballymena Baptist Church was followed by a private burial for the family.

He was described as the much-loved husband of Jacqui, Broughshane, devoted elder son of Kenneth and Noreen Moore and loving brother of Jeanette and Nigel.

Pastor Mark Brown, who led the service, added: “The sense is just deep loss and sadness and shock. I always say in our church that whenever one of our own is hurt, we all hurt, and that is very much how we all feel today in the church family for the Moore and Mills family circles.”

He said Richard was a committed Christian who had been involved with the church since boyhood.

“He was a very fun guy who loved life, loved adventure and always had a big smile on his face,” he added.

“He always wanted to help and do something for other people. There are many great qualities about him, but the one I want to focus on would be his relationship with and commitment to Jesus.”
