Richard raises £5k in memory of his late wife

Richard Hood from Ballymontenagh Road Ahoghill has donated a phenomenal £5,500 to local charity Friends of the Cancer Centre in memory of his beloved wife, Hazel, who passed away last year.

The funds were raised thanks to generous donations in lieu of flowers from friends, family and colleagues following the sad passing of Hazel, who was treated at the Cancer Centre.

Commenting on the support and donations he has received from friends and family, Richard said: “Hazel received tremendous care during her time in hospital and on behalf of the entire family, I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all the doctors, nurses and staff for the wonderful support that Hazel received.

“We’re delighted that we have been able to raise so much money for a charity that we know makes a huge difference to cancer patients and their families.

“We would like to say a very big thank you to all of our family, friends and colleagues who donated so generously.

“I’d like to say a special thank you to our friend Claire Todd, who kindly held her own fundraising event which raised a wonderful £600.”

Friends of the Cancer Centre is Northern Ireland’s leading cancer charity based right at the heart of the Cancer Centre, Belfast City Hospital.
