Concerned for both driver and pedestrian safety at the roundabout adjacent to Queen Street, Toome Road and Wakehurst, Ald. Martin Clarke had initially called on Roads Service to consider a signalling system a the busy junction.

“They came to the decision last year that providing lights couldn’t be justified but it seems some drivers just can’t handle a mini roundabout. Either nobody moves or they all move together at the same time,” said Alderman Clarke.

“I suggested to Roads Service that we should have signs to each approach advising motorists to give way to traffic on the right. They agreed and I’m delighted that we now have these signs. I would like to thank DRD Roads Service for all their help. Hopefully this will improve the safe flow of traffic,” he said.
