Royal Jubilee Tree is planted at ‘Ardeevin’

THE Queen’s Diamond Jubilee was marked in the grounds of Council’s Ardeevin HQ on Wednesday with the ceremonial planting of a red Oak Tree.

Ballymena Borough Council’s Mayor, Alderman Hubert Nicholl welcomed her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for County Antrim, Mrs Joan Christie OBE, to Ballymena to take part in the ceremony.

He said: “On the 2nd June 1953, a young woman was crowned as Queen of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. While the world around us has changed, the Queen has served her people faithfully in times of trouble as well as celebration.
