Rural photo comp. for local schools

ALL post primary schools in the borough are being invited bu NIHE to take part in a rural photographic competition with £250 on offer for the winning entry.

Michael Conway, Rural Housing Coordinator explains: “We are currently reviewing the work we do in rural areas under our ‘Rural Homes and People’ policy and are looking at new ways to engage with rural young people. With this in mind, we are asking young people to consider any rural issues which matter to them and to take a photograph which illustrates the issue.

“The photograph can either highlight a concern or celebrate the best of rural life. We will also ask for a short paragraph explaining the thinking and issue behind the photograph.

“This is a chance for young people in rural areas to express their views on rural life,” said Michael.

The competition closes at the end of May and successful entries will feature in the next edition of the Housing Executive’s ‘Rural Matters’ publications which is distributed to rural groups and representatives across Northern Ireland.
