Samaritan’s annual sponsored walk

For registration contact Allana on 07548875969 or email [email protected] as soon as possible but before May 13.

All proceeds will go to the local Ballymena Samaritans to sustain a life saving service.

Samaritan funding comes from individual’s, trusts and companies without whom Samaritans would not be able to carry on providing an emotional support and emotional health promotion service.

Samaritan volunteers provide emotional support to people in distress on the phone, face to face, by text, email and letter. The caller is listened to in confidence, without fear of being judged, which can be a huge relief and is often the first step in finding a way to cope.

Volunteers do not offer advice, because what works for one person might not work for another. The Samaritans believe that given the time and space to work through problems or difficulties in confidence, everyone can find an inner strength that lets them find their own way forward.

The current economic situation means thousands more people are feeling the stress of money worries and increased pressure. Samaritans help ordinary people – like your own families and colleagues – who just happen to be going through an extra-ordinary crisis. The Samaritan movement take more than 5 million contacts every year, enabling people to talk about their problems by phone, text, email and face-to-face. Just £3.88 pays for one call to be answered by a volunteer.

Anyone in distress can contact Samaritans at any time of the day or night. Samaritans are contacted every 7 seconds, by people of all backgrounds and ages looking for emotional support.

Common reasons to call Samaritans are: Relationship and family problems;NLoss, including loss of a job, a friend or a family member through bereavement; Financial worries; Job-related stress or overwork; College or study related stress.
