Scheme stamps out the stress of fuel bills

THE Oil Stamp Saving scheme run by St Vincent de Paul enables householders who use central heating oil to budget more effectively.

With the cold weather well and truly taking a grip on the borough it is important that homes are well heated and budgeting how you pay for this fuel is very important.

How does the Oil Stamp scheme work?

To take advantage of the scheme, go to one of the participating retail outlets and ask for an oil savings card.

You can then buy oil savings stamps costing 5 each from the same retailer and put them on the card.

These stamps will then be accepted as payment by a selection of local oil companies.

You may buy as many stamps as you want every week and spread the cost of oil over several weeks rather than having to spend hundreds of pounds in one payment.

Oil stamps can be bought from a range of merchants throughout the Ballymena Borough.

A full list of participating Oil Retailers can be obtained from Ballymena Borough Council by telephoning 028 25660300

Further information can also be obtained from St Vincent de Paul at 028 2564 4122

Fuel suppliers such as oil and gas companies and Northern Ireland Electricity can advise on their payment methods. Just phone your fuel supplier.

It is always best to contact the fuel company in the first instance if there are problems paying for fuel. Advice agencies are good sources of help for anyone who gets into debt.
