Seized drugs found in ‘children’s game box’

A man has been arrested after police uncovered a quantity of suspected herbal cannabis from residential premises at the Carniny Road area this afternoon (Wednesday, August 20).

Ballymena Area Commander Stephen McCauley said the suspected cannabis, with an estimated street value of £4,000, was concealed inside a children’s game box.

The drugs were recovered ifollowing a proactive police operation shortly after 12.10pm and taken away for further forensic examinaions.

A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class B drugs and possession of Class B drugs with intent to supply. He is currently in police custody.

Ballymena Area Commander Chief Inspector Stephen McCauley: “Police continue to work in partnership with the local community to tackle the scurge of drugs. This is an example of a complete lack of concern for the safety of young people, in that harmful and illegal drugs were concealed inside a children’s game box.

“One man arrested is currently assisting with our enquiries, as police are determined to keep the local community safe.”
