Seven Towers Male Voice Choir in Concert

THE Braid Concert Hall will be the venue this Friday and Saturday, March 22 and 23, for one of the most popular highlights of the town’s Arts Festival - the Seven Towers Male Voice Choir Annual Concert.

Performances start nightly at 8pm conducted by their Musical Director Thelma Strange and accompanied by Rea Shields and those who attend will be treated to performances by leading Irish Soprano Catrina Scullion, the upbeat Ballymena Academy Jazz Group and award winning cellist, Eva Richards.

The programme will see the Choir sing a wide variety of popular music including a Lennon and McCartney Medley, There is Nothing Like a Dame, and the March of the Men of Harlech.

This popular event, sponsored this year by local company Wrightbus, has proved to be a special occasion each year in the Arts Festival programme, attracting its audiences from throughout the borough and far beyond.

Now with more than 50 members, the Seven Towers Male Voice Choir has been going strong since 1924 and has performed in concert in Canada, Germany, and in the UK and southern Ireland.

For the past few years the Choir has given the opportunity to local charities to benefit from their annual Ballymena event and this year, they have chosen Cancer Focus NI and the Alzheimer’s Society.
