Sex offenders in Bannside

Figures released to the District Policing Partnership show there is one ‘level two’ registered sex offender and six ‘level one’ registered sex offenders in the area of comprising Ahoghill, Cullybackey and Portglenone.

It was explained that all these persons had individual monitoring plans in place.

Inspector Pete Bouma revealed that a ‘level one’ offender was deemed to be someone whose previous offending, current behaviour and circumstances present little evidence that they will cause serious harm.

However, a ‘level two’ RSO was described as ‘someone whose previous offending, current behaviour and cirumstances present ‘clear and identifiable evidence’ that they could cause serious harm through carrying out a sexual contact or violent offence.

The definition of serious harm is ‘physical or psychological harm which is life threatening and/or traumatic from which reovery is usually difficult or incomplete.’
