Simon wins Concorde Cup for engineering excellence

CONGRATULATIONS to NRC student Simon King who has been awarded the Concorde Cup for Engineering.

Simon has been studying for the past two years on a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering at NRC’s Farm Lodge Ballymena Campus.

He acquired excellent practical skills and developed a deeper understanding of engineering principles used in manufacturing industry achieving 20 Distinctions in all the units studied and an overall profile D*D*D*.

He is continuing his professional development with a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering at Queens University Belfast.

Simon participated in the Regional heat of the Mechatronics WorldSkillsUK competition and has qualified to compete in the National final at the Skills Show in the NEC Birmingham in November.

He has also been selected onto the shortlist of competitors who will be undertaking additional training during the summer in preparation for the Squad UK selection competition in early September.

An NRC spokesperson said: “We congratulate Simon for these great achievements and wish him every success in his future career.”
